Peace Day 2006

This year's International Day of Peace is over, but not the spirit that has moved this quiet day into the minds and hearts of millions of people world wide. In some ways, we have just begun to build a new peace movement which will build in the years to come and bring about world peace. I love the idea of a peace day because it gives focus to the somewhat nebulous idea of peace. What peace is and how it will be achieved is a mind boggling problem. But, if we can all stand together on one day and proclaim it is a possibility, then perhaps, one day, maybe beginning on September 21st, 2007? 2008? 2009? or maybe in 2012 - we will finally welcome a thousand years of peace. Peace, which will no longer tolerate violent expressions of power and greed. Peace which will be known by all who share life on this planet. read more »
