Ten students who won in the recently concluded on-the-spot painting and essay-writing contests in Pasay City received their awards and prizes last Dec. 11. The contests were held at the Alleviation Center, 822 Dominguez St., Malibay, Pasay City last Dec. 8. The competitions which was originally slated last November 30 was postponed due to super typhoon Reming. Elementary pupils competed in the painting contest, while high school students competed in the essay-writing contest. The Quezon City Partnership for Peace celebrated the International Day of Peace last September 21 and concluded its "Eight Days for Peace in QC" by holding two city-wide competitions among students in Quezon City's public schools. This Peace Day Event is recognized as part of the UN mandated International Day of Peace 2006 celebrations world-wide. The "Eight Days for Peace in QC" was launched last September 14-21 by the Quezon City Partnership for Peace, a joint undertaking of the Centre for P.E.A.C.E. and the Rotary Club of Masambong together with 26 other Rotary Clubs in the city in cooperation with DepEd NCR, PNP-NCRPO, and city government officials. read more »
