I think we need to admitt that we now have an entire military made up of mercenaries. Our sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers and so on, all paid mercenaries.

They are supposedly there to protect our wonderful free enterprise system, but interestingly they are mercenaries precisely because that system is a lie and because they can't make it themselves in the very system they are supposably protecting.read more »

The wicked truth in my opinion is that the "West" is basically dominated by the feminine element and the "East" by the masculine. Both elements, when operating from a position of dominance, in other words not in partnership with the other element, are extremely unbalanced and dangerous. In my opinion the entire capitalistic nightmare is a feminine manifestation.... nucular bombs, CIA death squad trainers, Vietnam, Irag....it's all about money.... for women....and it's about the disposability of men. America is about materialism, security, and fear all female elements. And we're all too busy working to satisfy "her" demands to really think about what is really going on.read more »

I would have to say that believing things are going to get better is just as dangerous as believing they will get worse. It's all an escape from what is....... and from doing anything about it.

Other than an extremely small number of borderline insane, I would wager very few human beings would chose armed combat. So why does War exist? I believe the answer is so politically incorrect that probably most "pacifists" or pro peace people will cringe at the answers. In part because these answers call into question EVERYTHING!! Yes, maybe I'm being simplistic, but here they are, the two primary ones: overpopulation and exploitative economics. The population issue,I think, brings the "whole family as center" into question. And exploitive economics, while cleverly hidden in our "free" enterprise system, is indeed imbedded deeply into how our economy works. And I'm not talking about the whole living wage thing, which is my opinion completely dodges the real exploitation issue which involves owning more than one uses and then charging for its use... or buying low and selling high. As long as human beings engage in usury i.e. charge rent, loan for profit and probably even own land at all, I suspect there will be wars. I am aware of the argument about "the commons". To that I would say people would also have to restrain their procreation and refuse to do business with those who exploite others or the earth I.E. do agriculture in any other way besides organically.read more »

I do not believe wishing for peace, protesting specific wars or talking endlessly will do anything to end War. The path to peace requires much more of a commitment to radical and fundamental change. The change that needs to happen is one that is often quite politically incorrect, even amongst peace activists.
Two of the primary causes of war, exploitive economics and over population will never change unless we are willing to committ to some principles and are living in what Eric Fromm called a Humanitarian Communitarian Socalistic way. The "government" or the masses will never ever live this way unless some are willing to lead the way and DEMONSTRATE that is works. And in fact, it is extremely doubtful it could ever work except as a bottom up revolution of people voluntarily living this way.read more »

Just a short entry for now. This community (for people interested in peace) we're trying to create, isn't anything like the old communes, yet it isn't like the new co-housing or eco- village concept either.
