And the reasons are manifold

This Administration is so cloaked in secrecy and chicanery

Sure! And the reasons are manifold. In the case of Iraq they do not want to repeat the “mistakes” of Vietnam.

Sept.11th, 2001 is a different story; the media reports on the events at the WTC were online and reality-TV-like, while from the events at the Pentagon we have seen only an 16 foot hole where the truth is buried.

Vicarious Viewing

That's okay; I'll settle for the reports from people I trust that say the soldier's name, branch, rank, age, hometown, date of death, and cause of death. I don't need to see the body. However, for around 300,000 Iraqi civilians - not 100,000 as reported by the libruls or 30,000 as reported by the president - I don't even have that! This refusal to acknowledge civilian casualties, this secrecy obviously gives rise to divisiveness based on wild exaggerations and speculations from partial information, like people who see only the Abu Graib pictures as compared with people who only see "operation have-a-nice-day" pictures.

And when it comes to the Pentagon or any of the rest of the events surrounding 9/11, we have only complete misinformation - another example of the administration trying to make a lie true by repeating it over and over and over. We know it's a lie, but we can't bear to go into the dark places where lurk monstrous truths. I've seen a few glimpses, and I would settle for reports and analyses from people I trust about the black box evidence from the crashed planes, eye witness accounts, seismic and atmospheric data, pictures of debris piles and dump sites - anything but the pre-digested or downright fabricated pablum that comes from the President's Commission. So let me reframe the question: Why didn't they show the bodies or the wreckage to anyone I trust?

And to answer your question about my Representative to the House, that's what he does. "Yes, sir, aye, sir." And he has a couple of opponents to face in November, and it looks like our worse-case scenario will be a run-off. A landslide for the incumbent is out of the question, I am happy to say.

Good Questions, but . . .

. . . we might be asking the same thing about the dead American soldiers in Iraq, might we not? Why don't they show us *those* bodies?

It's easy to jump to a conclusion about PR and claim that they want to sanitize the war, and that seems a reasonable explanation. Perhaps it also applies to the Pentagon attack. Who knows?

That's really the point isn't it? This Administration is so cloaked in secrecy and chicanery that everything they do is necessarily greeted with the utmost of suspicion, of the most dastardly of explanations.

We need a government that is accountable for its actions. How does your elected Representative stack up?

Very good question! and why didn’t they show us the dead bodies. Did you see any? Maybe I have missed that.

Pentagon Strike: Why Didn't They Show Us the Wreckage?

Planes do not simply vaporize. Never in the history of aviation disasters has an aircraft ever totally disintegrated. Even exploding space shuttles did not vanish into thin air. Therefore, it stands to reason that whatever hit the Pentagon had to leave some recoverable debris in its wake. Surely, there had be enough identifiable rubble remaining from a 110,000 ton aircraft to satisfy the skeptics?
