one last push

Ever notice that warfear always finds another threat, another enemy, another reason to fear and fight? A general in the U.S. army testified before congress today that he agreed with the commander-in-chief that we need "one last push" in Iraq to finally set the country on the right track. This would take another 4 to 6 months. They are ignoring the reality of what another 4 to 6 months of violent "problem solving" would generate. It's like saying, "we'll participate in this really horrible game, and then after we decimate you we will all be nice to each other."

The real victories will occur within our own attitudes and intentions. We cannot use violence to create that victory. Attempting to make progress toward a peaceful world using violence is illogical. It is a contradiction. We all are victorious when we expose and shake our faith in that illogical, contradictory idea.

Fear sells the illusion that the victories of war provide security, is there such a thing from war and fear, of course not, is it worth the loss of life, perhaps if the question posed "Is This The World We Choose to Create" is answered in truth, with the ideals that took those lives to war, within the humanity we all share, for the relationships we all desire, pose the question "Is This The World" and constantly share the answer, World*Peace - No*Compromise.

Thankyou for your comment, I just find it difficult to contemplate the victorious of war, is there such thing? Of course in the long run things are achieved, but it can't be worth the loss of lives- people call me an idealist i suppose, but cant ideals be expanded and compromised? not to say i am a fundamentalist but surely we must aim towards an ideal in order to achieve anything? We agree and believe in peace don't we? so lets aim for that, we can be ambitious! One thing especially that annoys me is why the belief in humanity cannot be sustained, we are constantly hearing about terrorism etc, and i strongly believe that we all, as humans have something we can relate to , i dnt feel anyone can look at another person and not find something they can relate to, doesnt that work with emotions and belief aswell. Where has the empathy gone?

your poem does us all justice, for that is what's needed to stem the tide of fear, if we all spent as much time grieving for the victims of war, as we do to exploit the victorious of war, then justice would at least be seen, heard and one would hope perhaps even served.

Spinning a reel, It has become the monotonous norm, We are used to it, Casual tones of sorrow, Bells don't toll anymore, For they would never stop, Doomed like a fowl fate, People have become accustomed to the fact, That everyday more and more, Open wounds are left sore, As they die on the floor, People both rich and poor, The radio news banging at our door, But we don't notice it anymore.
