The world itself will disallow humanity to live selfishly and to treat one another as less than... or more than... We are all equal in Spirit--the breath of Life.

A poem I wrote for MLK Day; reposted for the 40th Anniversary of his assassination.

On Martin Luther King Day

When all the marchers shall have lost their way
and the Way shall not have been forgotten
and the colour of skin, the slant of eye,
mere shadows that block the great internal Sun,
then peace will no longer be purchased
in salt or oil,
nor bought with fallen soldiers of Christ or Buddha,
nor turned the opposite direction from Mecca,

every man woman and child will pledge Allegiance
to the Brother and Sisterhood of Humanity,
a banquet feast shall be prepared in Kingdom Hall,
a Promised Land,
a welcome home anywhere on earth as it is in Heaven.

Here on the anniversary of the assassination of Dr. King, I believe his words and actions are no less relevant today than they were forty years ago. In particular his actions. You see, I know I will never be the orator that he was, but I can be a similar active, participating force, an agent for change, a contributor to peace and nonviolence.
