Severn Suzuki gave an eloquent speech; however, when I consider the context, I wonder about the bitter, accusatory tone. Surely her audience was part of the solution rather than part of the problem! I would rather see appreciation and inspiration at an Earth Summit and such speeches as this saved for commencement exercises and the like.

[I shared the following at the Acton Jazz Cafe Father's Day Festival for Peace Awareness today.] I am no longer an innocent newcomer on this planet. I am almost 38 years old, and I have transitioned from child heir to responsible adult. I am the father of 3 wonderful boys between the ages of 3 and 9. I own, or more properly put, am a trustee of property here in Acton.
