Re: Good stuff

ButchTroll wrote:
Good stuff Jason... "But" Do you really want your "Uncle" involved?

Yes, I do want some kind of centralized management in our society. But I want to change its priorities. There are plenty of good things that our "Uncle" provides such as roads, schools, fire departments, safety standards, technological initiatives...

How many of the technologies you work with in your AirUSA projects were initially developed (funded) by Uncle (taxpayer)? I would like to see that development moved from the war machine to a peace machine. I would also like to ensure that publicly funded development stays in the public domain. For example, some companies are attempting to patent portions of the human genome. If development is not owned by the citizens (if it's privatized) then it becomes more difficult to use it for the common good, at least until corporations become more focused on the common good, which is impossible to effectively regulate or encourage under our current capitalist, competitive structure.

The concept of the common good or commonwealth is vital. It has just become overly focused on and aligned with corporate opportunism and the violent enforcement of corporate dominance. See Corporate*Mercenary.

ButchTroll wrote:
I must say I really do like your ideas and enjoy your site. Thinking out of the box and doing rather than talking is where it is at.

I am merely a facilitator. This is your site and a place for your ideas. Your contributions, your thinking outside of the box and your actions, along with those of everyone here, are what will forge a better future.

Good stuff Jason... "But" Do you really want your "Uncle" involved?
I think that people in numbers rejecting the things that bring discord to this world and living life as an example rather than a squeaking wheel is the way to go. Show of hands, How many of you know what an Amish community is?

Having said that I must say I really do like your ideas and enjoy your site. Thinking out of the box and doing rather than talking is where it is at.

your values + your vision = the future

Too often I observe that we identify ourselves by what we are against rather that what we are for. If you ask someone what problems they see with issues past and present, you will likely find yourself in a long, engaging discussion about the world's ills. If you ask that person what their ideas are for the future, what kind of world they would like and how they intend to build it, the conversation meanders through vagaries and generalities and then often stops without any clear answers. This is a disparity that needs to be corrected in order to bring our efforts into full effect.
