Disarmament

Thank you, Jason, for keeping this situation "on the front burner." Where abstract logic and reason often fail with our leadership, concrete precedent can be effective. Others interested in this issue might want to research the disarmament treaties already signed by this nation, especially those that have been violated in the Iraq war and those that make domestic terrorism such a real threat. What can we the people do to bring our nation into compliance with disarmament measures already in place?

IRA disamrament confirmed

International weapons inspectors backed by Protestant and Catholic clergymen announced the Irish Republican Army's full disarmament Monday, a milestone in Northern Ireland peacemaking.

This gesture of peace and good faith should be celebrated. But there is much work to do in the long reconciliation process. Much depends on the Protestants' response and on the re-emergence of a viable Protestant/Catholic government.
