Jeff Chapman-Crane poem and his "Agony of Gaia" sculpture

maybe they fixed it since last you looked, silent lotus, because the sculpture is viewable now, and is a scene involving a barren hillside, with several tall, sculpted figures standing on it, who evoke the same sense of death and devastation that the "altar" at Golgotha does...as does the poem...

very well done,
Fear*Choice

sarah wrote:
why did they vote for Bush, and they said, well we did not have choice, I thought; So you choice Bush, over Gore in the first election, because, he wanted to spend money on the enviroment. You were demacrat and voted for Bush, and you say to me you have choice.

hey Sarah,

thank*you for your comments on this post, and though i*agree with you 99.9% please allow me to interject that the choice given even before 9/11 was very specifically narrowed to a choice of fear, which held the world in fear of choice.

It is at these times those with a ruthless heart leap forward to control and take advantage of the shock waves created, 9/11 was quite literally the nail in the coffin of hope.

Only those already living with peace in their hearts and lives, have the strength and clarity of mind and soul to resist such a force, and even many of those will generally be overcome by the state of fear created.

Hence the only real choice available to most was to accept the fear.

The positive side of this reality is that most everyone now sees the false truth, corrupt power and insidious deceptions of those fears.

peace is rising ;)

I like rainbow list of reality of monnies delegated in this war,

Sally(sarah)Mathews
My first thought after after 911 was take care of the families; afterward i heard stories first hand from a view of the 911 workforce who survived, some with, mental and emotional life time wounds a personal life altering reality that they have to live with everyday; Your blog, is so clearly stated, flawless in reality we were faced with as country during 911.
I was in Brooklyn, during the "Thankgiving" and I was staying at the marriot when it was packed with the coalition of Kuait students,on the day of their election. I talked to many of the students, I wanted to here whatit was like to have your country invaded, and while I was engaging in the humanistic story of there youth; It was expressed me somewhat humorously, that they could have taken Sadaam Hussian, out any time, and that this is about who is going to control the oil. Senior service I have talk to in this country, always, say guite adamently the war is about oil. For our country, oil and ecconomy needs to a challenged issue. I just gag, when I ask people who knew that this war is a mistake; why did they vote for Bush, and they said, well we did not have choice, I thought; So you choice Bush, over Gore in the first election, because, he wanted to spend money on the enviroment. You were demacrat and voted for Bush, and you say to me you have choice.

Narcissism indeed

Hey Bruce & Co. Sorry I've been away for awhile, though some of you may have liked the hiatus! :)

As my post today reveals, I've been quite busy. Plus lambing season in -20 plus windchill.

I'm working on my next book, cheerfully if realistically entitled "Living the American Doom." In the first chapter I address the gross failures of materialism, and the forces (sociological as well as economic) which refuse acknowledgement of this failing. Your post reminded me of a quote I do not use in the book but will share here:

"America's narcissism is strong. It is paraded before the world. If we were to put the nation on the couch, we might discern that narcissism is its most obvious symptom. And yet that narcissism holds the promise that this all-important myth can find its way into life."

Thomas Moore, Care of the Soul

Much of Mr. Moore's book is devoted not just to America's failures, but to what he dubbs "psychological modernism...the modern syndrome that so seriously threatens the world," which he defines as "an uncritical acceptance of the values of the modern world. It includes blind faith in technology, inordinate attachment to material gadgets and conveniences, uncritical acceptance of the march of scientific progress, devotion to the electronic media, and a life-style dictated by advertising." An even more enlightening book is "The American Condition," by Richard N. Goodwin, which analyzes in more concrete detail the failings of materailaism, the slavery it causes, and the underlying causes for this failure of modern capitalism. Very insightful....

I haven't forgotten about you, Bruce -- I still owe you a letter. Please forgive me, I've been flat out. However, I'm pleased to report that my Lyme disease is reponding to the intense antibiotic regimen I'm on, and my stomach is (so far) tolerating it. The better I get the more (trouble-making) I can do.

In Christ,

your*trust in live, is well placed, personally i*would not despair nor be sad for those who are offended, for they merely offend themselves, and cast the shadow of doubt unto that which they can not see, yes of course have pity and compassion for their path, as it is the sadness brought to others by their actions which could so easily be healed by the love and peace locked within a wounded heart, a lesson many will not heed.

welcome to the site and thanx for your comment ;)

The Great Controversy

I believe it's true that the last war will be waged by some without bloodshed or physical death and that I am one of those. One of my favorite promises is, "For the weapons of our warfare are not physical, but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ". 2 Corinthians 10 verses 4 and 5.

I believe what my "Conformity" postcard from despair.com says - "When people are free to do as they please, they usually imitate each other." I believe what Ghandi said - to be the change we want to see in the world. If we do this, I believe many others will follow.

I believe that others will fight by physical, violent and bloody means in the last battle of this war that's been waged as long as mankind has been as it is . They will fear the influence of those who live love and peace. How sad to offend by the mere being of the change one wants to see in the world! But I believe Love and Peace will win in the end.

"whats in a name" ? this simple question always begs for those interested in the true worth of another to look deeper into the way of ones words and their use, for it is within those conjectures, opinion and supposition that one will find the full value of another.

Thank you so much for your comment! I appreciate that you took the time to welcome me and also that you analyzed my name in such a nice way. I have to admit it's just a nick name, but I have chose it for a reason and reading your thoughts was interesting. I always liked the pronounciation and meaning of 'Cankurtaran' [Jankourtarun], which is a Turkish word and means lifesaver, just some info in return: )
