The Massachusetts Campaign for a U.S. Department of Peace is proud to announce its summer fundraising event featuring Jimmy Tingle and his American Peace Party. Join us for an evening of comic relief with the brilliant comedy and insightful satire of Jimmy Tingle in Davis Square, Somerville, on June 29th. Jimmy Tingle will perform his hilarious one-man show, "The American Dream," starting at 7:30PM. Doors open at 7PM.

In cooperation with the nationwide efforts of The Peace Alliance (www.thepeacealliance.org), The Massachusetts Campaign for a U.S. Department of Peace and propeace.net (www.propeace.net) are organizing local grass-roots activities to support the creation of a U.S. Department of Peace. This historic legislation was proposed by Congressperson Dennis Kucinich and is sponsored in the House of Representatives by 53 other Congresspeople nationwide. The primary function of a United States Department of Peace will be to research, articulate, and facilitate nonviolent solutions to domestic and international conflict. The Department would formulate nonmilitary peaceful conflict resolutions, prevent violence, and promote justice and democratic principles to extend and expand human rights. Visit the bill summary page on the propeace.net website to learn more about this legislation and how you can help us to create a safer world.

Jimmy Tingle (www.jimmytingle.com) is a stand-up comic, social and political humorist, actor, and writer. He most recently completed two seasons with 60 Minutes II as the commentator/humorist in the Andy Rooney spot. His brand of humor is clean, funny, and intelligent. The New York Times wrote of his one-man show, Jimmy Tingle's Uncommon Sense, "He is more than comic wit... so cheerfully intelligent he makes his audience optimistic in the face of reality." The Los Angeles Times called Uncommon Sense "a thoroughly invigorating and uplifting experience. Deeply funny... Powerful sentiment... Triumphant laughs."

This event is co-sponsored by the American Peace Party of Boston, an organization created by Jimmy Tingle to use the healing power of humor to help people and organizations fulfill missions of peace and social justice. At a time in history when the state of our nation, the world, and our personal lives weighs heavily upon us, Jimmy Tingle's performance offers a soothing combination of laughter and insight.
