why not peace

hi mary anne,

i'm working on a project to popularize peace through fashion. the brand is called üba and the aim is to combine cause and design through themed apparel collections. www.ubawear.com

so, the üba peace collection draws on "combat" designs from around the world, while profits will support peace efforts in conflict regions. the particular projects will be determined through customer votes (at the end of the year, we'll select 4-5 projects and ask the people who bought peace t shirts - our "shareholders" to vote on which ones they would like us to distribute the profits to).

we just launched a line of peace t shirts online - check out http://www.ubawear.com/pcpre05/ss2.php and we're now looking to launch a full collection of peace apparel in the fall. we've actually been trying to find ways to link up with international peace day. one idea we are exploring is to stage a series of photo exhibits on that day with images of people from different backgrounds wearing why-not-peace t shirts accompanied by personal statements from them.

we'd appreciate any advice you have on linking up with broader efforts on peace day.

btw, do you know who originally proposed the int'l peace day?

best
