Power in the Plea of Mothers' VoicesWhat a wonderful gathering took place in Vancouver, WA at the YWCA Center! What marvelous Ladies were in attendance! With their own issues closest to their hearts, these ladies came to this Womens' Issues/World Cafe to SHARE/CARE with "compassion-building" their own efforts to achieve "Peace in Our Homes, Peace in Our World". When asked what they would do to achieve "Peace" five years hence, each one of them shared wonderful ideas. I think as the Mothers/Sisters/Daughters/Friends we have the greatest stake in what is happening to our loved ones thousands of miles away and On Our Own Turf (that is, all our homes, neighborhoods, local economy, and, of course, national interests)-please don't feel too left out, gentle-men of Peace, but it is the laborous groanings of women that bring about the living that "those at-the-top" appear so very willing to waste. Let's teach Peace by example. Let's teach non-violence by example. Let's gather together to build Compassion-based governments throughout the world as we know it. What a glorious gift that would be to pass on to our children and grandchildren! Whoever says Peace is not achievable....has not experienced the Power of A Mother's Pleading Voice. Peace is healthy for children and all others Living on earth.

Peace as a Women's Issue
We also participated in this worldwide women's event sponsored by Code Pink. We had a Women Say No To War vigil at the historic Custom House in Old Charles Towne (Charleston, SC).
At my weekly walking vigil, we were discussing this same idea, but in terms of social rather than government action. There are so many ways in which we can begin to co-create the world in which we want to live and that we want to leave for future generations. Why wait for our so-called leaders?
