PROFIT - A PoemMichael Hoban, Ph.D. The only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war. â€" Richard M. Nixon I I find it quite depressing - yet I hear it every day, Such scenes of great destruction is all we seem to see. Our leaders used deception just to get that desert oil Arrogance and ignorance now drive our native land II It does not seem to matter how many innocents are killed We thought this land had always stood for justice and fair play. The Veep's old firm is out there making money by the ton The GOP has always stood for profit in our land. III It used to be that principle meant something to us here They will hide behind "democracy" to force others to their will "Family values" they proclaim while remaining very calm. For we are stronger than they are - so that means we are right. IV So we send our sons and daughters to a strange land just to die Is this what freedom really means? - or have I missed the news? We do not tell them what they want because we have all the might - For democracy's not something that you ram with your great force Michael Hoban, Ph.D. is Professor Emeritus of the City University of NY

propeace quoteI learned this, by my experiment; that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. He will put some things behind, will pass an invisible boundary; new, universal, and more liberal laws will begin to establish themselves around and within him; or the old laws be expanded, and interpreted in his favor in a more liberal sense, and he will live with the license of a higher order of beings. daily omrecent blog postsactive discussionssimilar postswho's onlineThere are currently 0 users and 21 guests online.
