THE BUCK STOPS WHERE? - A Poem

THE BUCK STOPS WHERE?

Michael Hoban, Ph.D.

Once we had a leader who was famous for his pluck
Although there may be some who would say it all was luck.

In any case, he once did say with conviction and good cheer
I know I am responsible - I know the BUCK STOPS HERE.

Now we have a leader who sits in that mighty chair
Who seems to say: I'm not too sure, does it stop over there?

Maybe it was Congress or maybe Condy or the Veep
Or maybe it just came to me one day when sound asleep.

In any case, I know for sure I'm not the one to blame
If things we've done have brought this land a sense of certain shame.

The buck will stop somewhere -a poetic response

If the buck would ever stop, we know where it would land.
The president and his VP then surely would be canned.

We've been told that terrorists hate us 'cause we're free
by a man who boasts of his accountability

The roulette game our nation plays makes the buck go round and round
And when it lands on black or red, will our currency be sound?

For Bush has waffled, lied and whined to further his "agender,"
'Twere better he'd kept drinking, he's been on such a bender.

But do look now folks the buck stops where you'd expect with such a puker
On the backs of our nation's children, who have gained a leveraged future.
