The Centre for P.E.A.C.E. (Philippines)

History

The Centre for P.E.A.C.E. was founded in May 13, 2006 by Don Flordeliza, Jr., (left photo) a former political activist turned nationalist entrepreneur and peace advocate. At 49, Don is President and CEO of ExcaliburCNG Hauling, Storage and Distribution, Inc. He runs his own public relations consulting firm and insurance agency, Excalibur PR Mgt. Consultants. He is also an incorporator and director of Give U Technology and Services, Inc. Don serves as the Center's Executive Director.

As a student leader, he joined the Philippine revolutionary movement in 1970 and heeded the Maoist call to Serve the People. He "integrated" and lived with the poor masses for sometime, turning his back on his scholarships and academic pursuits. Don witnessed the stark realities of poverty and violence in all levels of human existence. He was arrested and imprisoned twice during martial law at a very young age of 16 and was tortured by his captors. Beloved by the people he endeavored to serve, the experiences and insights he gained became etched in his character forever. From that time on he embarked on a search for a higher meaning in life. Finding differences in methods and principles, he left the communist-led underground after more than 5 years of involvement.

Today, despite the demands of business, Don finds time in serving worthwhile causes. He is webmaster of NGV Forum Philippines (online), which advocates for a natural gas powered public transport. An active Rotarian, he is charter president of the Rotary Club of Masambong, Quezon City, Philippines. Seasoned over the years, Don continues to cherish his idealism and pursue the vision of his youth - a better society where people can live in peace and harmony, and where everyone can have an equal chance for self-fulfillment and growth.

He reminds us of our forgotten legacy of peaceful co-existence, mutual-respect, religious tolerance and racial understanding left behind by our noble Malayan forebears more than seven hundred ninety years ago. He now embarks (on what he fondly calls as his final battle) of "waging Peace in our troubled world...' and inspired some of us to get involved.

"Join us in this exciting journey for Peace. Let us leave our children with a better world to live in and a legacy that will last far beyond our lifetimes." - Donato A. Flordeliza, Jr., founder & exec. director, Centre for P.E.A.C.E. (Philippines)
