Rotarians in Quezon City yesterday (August 18) gathered at the Rotary Center on Roces Avenue, Bgy. Paligsahan, Quezon City to launch a project that stresses peace over war to the youth.

Fifteen Rotary clubs,led by the Rotary Club of Masambong, Rotary International District 3780, signed a memorandum of agreement with the Quezon City Department of Education, the National Capital Region Police Office, and the Quezon City government to jumpstart the project.

The Project, which starts next month, has two major components, an on-the-spot peace-painting contest for public elementary school students, and a peace essay-writing contest for public high school students.

"The peace initiative project was born out of the conviction to wage peace in our troubled world. We will pursue peace more resolutely as others wage war. We will tireleessly promote peace education and advocacy in communities and enterprises," said RC Masambong president Don Flordeliza, Jr.

Among those who attended the launching were RI District Gov. Dan Espinosa, National Youth Commission Excutive Director Ricardo Belmonte, and DepEd and NCRPO representatives.
