If your enemies goal was to create havoc, they would welcome you with open arms and drink to the continued health of your ability to suffer havoc with and upon them, and if your goal was to prevent such havoc you would not offer the avenue and energy for their goals.
The goal of all parties involved is to assure the opportunities of life for their people, thus the solution for all parties is to implement the realization that all suffer the havoc of another and will continue to do so until the mutual cessation of havoc is agreed upon.
Simply show the other you mean it.

It doesn't take too much imagination to think of options beyond "stay the course" vs. "cut and run". What if we replaced our 140,000 troops with 140,000 peace-makers, mediators, conflict resolution specialists, non-violent communication practitioners, and the like? You would see real progress, or at the very least much more dialog and much less destruction.
If "this time we mean it", then what is it that we mean? Wouldn't such a peacemaking effort take "what we mean" to a whole new level?
Who was it that said that war is essentially a failure of imagination? May our leaders re-discover their imaginations!

Hi there. Sorry to contradict you. But we can't be too sure about that. If we did pull our troops in Iraq won't that make the enemy see that it is an opportunity for them to attack again? Remember, their goal is create havoc, ours is to stop them from creating such. And the only way to stop them is to show them that this time we mean it.
