Peoples*RepublicWelcome to the Peoples Republic of America, former home of the United States of America. After dividing the country and the world neatly in half, with war, religious and civil liberty conflicts, the North and South are once again pitted against each other. The opportunity now exist to actually keep the conflict civil and truly attempt to get things done, by creating win*win scenarios which move the globe toward World*Peace - No*Compromise. Peace must now be kept in front of every eye, next to every heart, within reach of every potential conflict, until it becomes the natural social human response to every action, until it is kept in the heart and soul of each one. "Impossible you say." i*am here to tell you that those simple statements are the keys to all your doubts and fears. Its Not Impossible. There are Many Ways to Accomplish Peace. The first and foremost is to create the opportunities to turn away from conflict. A society in which discussion and a handshake or hug is the HEROIC method of action and resolution. Deceptively simple you say, that wont sell product or movies. Oh quite the contrary, that is just how product and movie deals are sold, its just not how the entire social system is set to operate. Not Everyone is expected to act for the greater good. Ok if your end goal is to sell product and movies without the realization of peaceful relationship, then keep going down the path of heroic conflict. If you'd like to have your cake and eat it to, then its time to realize the results of your actions and provide the opportunities and education to those who are only left with the choice of violence. Wake*Up, smell the roses, seize these L.essons, O.pportunities, V.ariety, and this new cultural E.volution to create, World*Peace - No*Compromise You can start by simply printing out words and banners of peace and posting them on every bulletin board, utility pole, door way, car bumper, bathroom stall and whatever else will hold a single word, or simple phrase. * * * PEACE WORLD*PEACE PEACE*TALK PEACE*NOW TALK*PEACE WALK*PEACE PEACE*WALK THINK*PEACE BE*PEACE DO*PEACE LOVE*PEACE PEACE*LOVE WORLD*PEACE NO*COMPROMISE You get the idea, right ? Noble ideas, and I fully support this sentiment. In fact, I am outraged that Americans ignore the plight of the peoples of the world, especially those who call themselves Christian. Nigerians live on less than one dollar/day, while choking in toxic waste, so that Americans can have cheap oil and bigscreen TVs. The gig is up, the world is onto us, and we can no longer feign to be the world's Christin liberators and deliverers, when they know our song and dance of lies. No more trading trinkets to Indians for land and other resources. I preach peace and love, but so many people are selfishly filled with fear and ignorance.
But you are a bit off with your Jesus reference. Yes Jesus died for our evil, whether or not we recognize that truth (again, I challenge people to read Mere Christianity by C.S.Lewis, and to then propose an explanation for existence which makes more sense). But you state:
"Think it’s crazy, well then your in denial of all the effort and work of those who have died For*You,
Muhammad, Jesus, Buddha, Gandhi, Gibran, Martin Luther King, Mother Theresa, The Kennedy's, John Lennon and the countless billions who have lived to manifest peace."
(By the way, John Lennon should not be in this list: he sang flowery words, but also evidenced a selfish ego and vicious unforgiveness toward McCartney and others. Like George Bush, his words were not matched with action. I will always be a Beatles fan, but we must not allow pop culure and musical entertainment to stand as our moral/spiritual leaders, else you had best add the other acid heads Jerry Garcia Jimmy Hendrix and Jim Morrisson, or maybe Curt Cobain will be our moral light! Did they die for me like you suggest John Lennon did? And the Kennedys? Not more political leaders as our saviors?!)
My effort and belief system is rooted in the teachings of Christ, and He did indeed admonish us to live in peace. But Jesus taught very clearly that 1)we would not succeed in achieving this peace without seeking Him, and that 2) the failures of those who turned to their own understandings of this world would eventually lead to the collapse and failure that we are now living. Thus Jesus taught peace, but forewarned of our failure should we ignore Him. When you reference Jesus, it is only fair to Him to acknowledge that He predicted our failures, even predicting repeatedly that those would come like Haggard and Bush, who would lead both Christians and non-Christians astray, and that we would know them by their fruits (actions).
I will continue to pray for, work toward, and even die for peace, but my Lord has prepared me that mankind will not achieve this, and that He will come back to save my worthless, unworthy carcass. The idea of repentance and acknowledging my sin-cursed soul is alien to the secular world, but it is not about guilt and shame, but about liberation therefrom, through recognizing this simple truth and then determining to walk toward goodness. People who do not acknowledge their evil have not taken the first step in overcoming it (witness George W. Bush et al.). Non-Christians trying to create and foster peace without an acknowledgement of mankind's failures are like pedophiles trying to run a daycare. No offence intended, but from whence will you spread a moral code bootstrapped from failed humanism? I will join you in spreading peace, but without God the effort is tantamount to fighting the federal government with a sling shot. Without repentance their is no possibility of redemption, and this is most especially true for modern gluttonous fear-filled America. And who in the rest of the world would forgive our nation absent sincere repentance? And why should they? And where is that repentance in our culture? Americans continue to look to their government and businesses to deliver them from the chaos to which that trust in government and business has led them. Now that it is so obvious that Americans must look elsewhere, to where shall they cast their gaze? Is John Lennon coming back? Or John Kennedy? And if they did, would they save us? Did they knowingly die for us, knowing we were reprobate silver?
Christians are not out to change everybody to be like them. True Christians have found the truth of divinity, and wish to confront the deceit of this world which deludes people. It's tantamount to have uncovered absolute proof that 9/11 was an inside job, and then try to spread the truth before the evildoers ship you to Guantanamo. The great conspiracy is modern humanism, moral relativism, technological magic, and a scientific theory that scientists cannot even begin to prove as law but which is accepted (talk about faith!) as law. The secret truth is the light of God's truth. One cannot find God without His word: if you wish to discover true peace, read the Gospels of Jesus Christ with an open and unprejudiced mind. When once our skepticism is lifted, the implicit truth of Christ's words is infectious and unavoidable. It amazes me that so many dismiss Christ without ever giving Him a chance to speak for himself. Are Ted Haggard, George Bush and the Religious Right proof that Christ was a fraud, or that they are frauds? Christ should be measured on His own merit, just as Islam should not be judged by its worst examples. And Christ reveals today's reality, where you try to spread truth, peace and love, but expect condemnation, ridicule and derision. This may sound unpeasant, but it is reality. Jesus teaches us not to look for justice in this world, but in the next, and to do justice regardless of our personal circumstances. That is the only moral standard which will combat the worldly (natural) cycle of returning hatred with hatred, hurt with hurt. Are America's Christians who demonize Islam as hateful and murderous living this teaching? Obviously not, but please do not allow their ignorance of Christ's truth to infect you: Jesus speaks very clearly to those who will heed His voice. For people lacking faith, why don't they seek Him, or another God?: are they afraid their prayers won't be answered, or that they will? What is there to lose, except one's lack of faith? Surely no one would "fear" losing a lack of faith?
Jesus is coming. He will impose peace, eradicate sin and illness, and reward the meek and poor who suffer today: sounds too good to be true, right? Sounds like it would make absolute sense and justice if it were true, doesn't it? A benign, omniscient and loving God would set up exactly such a system, wouldn't He? And the suffering of innocents which humans use to dimiss God are irrelevant when contrasted with eternal love and protection from all hardship. Again, we fail when we apply our own understanding to God's plan -- we are upset when others suffer, so how can there be a God. But rejection of God embraces a faith that these children and innocents do indeed suffer, without justice or compensation. How very bleak.... This is why Jesus said repeatedly that a camel had a better chance of threading through the eye of a needle than a rich man gaining heaven: affluence and a false security lead us to trust our puny minds rather than the explicit words of He who created those minds. Our maker knows his work. He also foretold that America (Babylon) would do exactly this, and this is what you see happening today. Most American Christians falsely believe that America's paramount position as the world's greatest creator and distributor of pornorgaphy, pedophilia, gay marriage, tobacco, carpet bombs, landmines, and materialism, amongst other fruits of modern life, will be ignored by their God, and that they with their 2,400 square-foot houses and 3.2 fancy cars are the "good guys." What they will soon come to realize is that America is the modern Babylon, whose horrible fate was explicitly detailed two thousand years ago. America's proclaimed Christian ethic is as vapid and lifeless as the fantastical notion that humanity is "evolving" toward a heightened awareness and international peace. Belief in alien life has more credibility than the notion that humanity will solve the problems of social justice, which themselves exist because humanity has largely refused to resolve or even address them. What has changed recently that the world will awaken from its polluting, self-destructive funk?
It is also important to note that Jesus represents not just peace and love, but the fierce and eternal judgment that awaits all those who fail to embrace these truths. From this cosmic perspective, peace is not a choice but a command, ignored today most glaringly by Christ's purported followers. Jesus' words came directly from God. Soddom and Gomorrah (still being archaeologically examined today) were destroyed for the same immorality and hubris which today rule America. Wouldn't it be great for the poor and the meek, the suffering and terminally ill, that their patience and love would be rewarded, and those who do evil punished more severely than anything this world could provide? Then why do so many who say they embrace compassion for the poor, suffering and meek so readily reject the only grand design which truly answers all their complaints? Self-reliance? Self-delusion?
I realize that many in today's America, and many on this site, are sick of hearing about Christianity (thanks to the hypocrites, as specifically foretold in the Bible). But in dismissing my comments and beliefs, such people also dismiss the thinking and conclusions of so many of history's greatest minds, like C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien,, or G.K. Chesterton. And also Martin Luther King and John F. Kennedy. Interesting that you would hail such minds as your leaders in peace, and then ignore what they believed....
And as to gay marriage, perhaps more Americans should reflect on the fact that Christians are not Nazis who want to put gays in boxcars. All human beings, gays and "towelheads" included, are equal before God. Christians who condemn gay people are not following Christ's example, which was to condemn sin and not the sinner. The one issue avoided in America's gay union debate is whether homosexuality is moral or immoral. How nice to consistently ignore the core issue. Christians do not wish to make all gays straight, but to speak the truth of their Scripture -- it is for God to judge, by His standards and not by human standards of moral relativism. Christians would be denying God to ignore His clear and repeated warnings. Pornogaphy, pedophilia, adultery, along with killing and stealing, are immoral according to Christian, Muslim, and Jewish religious belief. So is homosexuality. The real issue is not whether heterosexuals will "tolerate" gay marriage: the real issue is will the secular world "tolerate" my religious belief, and my desire to raise my children in a morality that condemns not only homosexaulity but premarital sex, dishonesty, and war. Is it laughable to regard sexuality as a sacred and precious gift, an experience equivalent (or greater) in spiritual significance than prayer or communion? Those who poo-poo raising children in abstinence reject God's plan for the beauty and intensity of marital intimacy, which is undermined and damaged by promiscuity, the objectification of pornography, and selfish lust. Again, will I be allowed in such an environment to raise my children this way, with media and television sensuality constantly fighting my efforts? Will I be allowed in "free" America to worship according to my belief, or must the Tora, Bible and Koran all be edited to satisfy the moral tastes of of those demanding equality for immorality while perpetually refusing to address the moral question: is homosexuality immoral? And now that the minority of gays and gay supporters have manipulated human laws to circumvent God's laws (I'm a lawyer, and the Constitutional revisionism undertaken in the name of privacy rights is a shallow legal exercise to circumvent majority moral opinion), alienating so many people and propelling the Religious Right to prominence, will the nation have the tolerance to allow me free worship, or will the state pass laws mandating that my children be taught that homosexaulity is a normal, healthy and moral lifestyle, when that moral debate was avoided in the name of the so-called moral fight for equality. etc.? This is what Christians mean by the gay agenda -- the perception that Christians are being attacked for their faith, in a nation that supposedly guaranteed freedom of religion.
I have many gay friends, and it saddens me that the backlash against gays which will likely grow in this counry because so many people of faith feel that they are being attacked for embracing God's word, will hurt gays and create more intolerance and confusion. It is ironic that ultimately they have pushed too hard for their individual freedom to sin, and now they are mobilizing huge numbers of people against them who have the intense courage of their convictions as motivation. No one wins. People can blame me and other Christians for our views, but they are shortsighted and do not see the logical consequences of moral relativism tearing apart our nation. Humans are moral beings, and moral relativism seeks ultimately to release us from moral accountability: the end of this road is increasing lack of consensus, increased lack of accountability or integrity throughout society, and focus on self (after all, my morality as a moral relativist is free for me to create, and noone else's to judge). It teaches implicitly that there is no God, least of all one with a universal moral code etched in stone. Once again, America is proving beyond doubt that man left to himself cocks everything up. We are screwed by our own devices, and only a divine intervention (the great deus ex machina) will save us. This is God's divine plan, and we are in His test tube. To put faith in anything alse is tragic folly, for which God tells us ignorance is no excuse. If my identification of homosexuality or moral relativism as sin offends anyone's bootstrapped personal moral creed, I refer them to God and His holy word. He speaks for Himself. And I beg the tolerance from those myriad personal codes, that I be respected as a Christian, and be allowed free speech to believe as I wish.
Saying rape is immoral does not lead rapists to rise up in the streets, for they know their evil for what it is. Some pedophiles argue otherwise, but most perpetrators know that their lust is unhealthy. (Incidentally, does the secular world have an explanation for the exponential rise in pedophilia in modern America? Any solution for the problem, to protect our children? Any will to even explore the root cultural and other challenges? Any inkling that the growth in pedophilia is a direct consequence of moral relativism and the natural result of increasing devotion to pornography? The federal government estimates that there are over 200,000 web sites devoted to pedophilic material; one site alone in Texas was found to have over 250,000 paying subscribers; many our highest elected and church officials are "victims" of this addiction. Are Christian Americans supposed to wait around for the secular world to save them from these ills, and the growing child sex enslavement in America?)
The only distinction made by gay rights advocates is that these immoralities involve victims, whereas homosexuality is consensual, or that "they're born that way." This is a fragile moral tendril indeed: if they are born that way, maybe we should stop persecuting rapists and pedophiles -- after all maybe it's not their fault. So "born that way" is irrelevant to moral truth -- I was born with sexual desire for thousands of young women, but I conform that lust to my monogamous and more fulfilling morality. And if homosexuality is beyond moral reflection because it is victimless, we must wonder why drugs or suicide are illegal, and perhaps repeal those stifling laws. What of the consequence to society? The argument that monoganous marriage is already failing sure sounds like more bootstrapping -- yes, we're already immoral so let's really bury the institution of marriage properly. This is illogical. America's children are the moral guinea pigs in the gay union experiment, with the two-party marital structure implicitly extended to a third party (for conception, which we don't call adultery because we have dehumanized embryos with our mighty "science." Studies show that children of gay unions are more likely (four times so, by some studies) to be gay themsleves, which is all very fine, if homosexuality is moral -- but if not, then America's children are being dowsed with yet more layers of moral confusion to accompany the pornography, sexual promiscuity, and sexual predators which lurk ate evry turn. So it all comes down to that root issue that is constantly avoided: is homosexuality immoral? If it is, then there are indeed victims: innocent children. To say that this issue is one of personal choice and then foist it on my children is illogical. Perhaps public fornication is the next step: participants are not hurting anyone else because it is consensual, and parents are free to teach their children not to practice public copulation. Sounds extreme to non-Christians who are comfortable with their home-made morality? I didn't really want to discuss the details of anal sex with my young children either, but I was deprived of the choice because of the gay-liberating environment here in Vermont. Perhaps it is not gays who have been liberated, but the lid to Pandorah's box. And perhaps gay liberation will soon (sadly) become gay persecution, because so many of us seem to be implicitly wired to be repulsed by the unnatural act of sodomy. I've raised cows, sheep, pigs, goats, chickens, and other animals, but only man demonstrates a proclivity to copulate in a non-reproductive manner. Nature has no use for fecal pleasure.
But of course none of this is a surprise, for the Bible emphatically warns that in the immoral end times, men would burn to lie with men as with women, and women with women, burning with their own unquenchable desires and "unnatural lust." God gave us the gift of sexual union, and we have sacrificed it in merica on the idolatrous altar of self and lust. Here we have a clear and simple, almost universal moral code: but mankind thinks, once again, that it knows better, and finds its own self-destructive way....
Jesus represents more than peace -- He represents moral truth and final eternal judgment. For secular peacelovers to attempt to strap Him to the mast of their cause by facile illusion to His message of love without His message of retribution and the need for surrender, is comparable to the Religious Right using His name in the initiation of an unjust, un-Christian war or the repugnant use of torture. You don't want to be like the Religious Right, do you Rainbow Brain?
Either accept or reject Jesus. But you cannot borrow what you like and throw out the rest.
Thank you for tolerating my expression of my beliefs. I invite civil disagreement and civil discourse.
May God richly bless you, and all who seek truth and peace....

Change is an obscure word
Change is an obscure word for the many who close their doors and windows to the cries of pain heard all over the world. Terrorism hasn't affected them directly, suffrage is merely an automatic mechanical condition for validating ones citizenship, and lending a helping hand burdens the 40hr week-load. No one should be too comfortable in these times. No one should go to sleep at night without making some contribution toward peace. These are the ones, our neighbors and friends of friends, that must learn this dire message. You and I are charged with the responsibility to pass the message on to them. Thanx, Bruce Larson*Moore, for your inspiring words.
"While some people are studying the roots,
others are picking the fruit. It just depends
on which end of this you want to get in on."
