Peacemakers - join the conversation to make a difference!

If you think peacemaking is reserved for naïve, young activists-or men in suits representing powerful governments-- think again. The young women in this section are at the forefront of constructive solutions to war. They are smart, pragmatic, powerful, and effective. Meet Samantha Power a Pulitzer Prize winning author who has inspired thousands of Americans to ask their government to do more to prevent genocide around the world.

Meet Mariane Pearl, wife of slain journalist Daniel Pearl, who has turned her experience of loss into a powerful public appeal for greater tolerance. Meet Loung Ung, a survivor of the Cambodian genocide, whose advocacy contributed to the successful campaign to ban the use of landmines. The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded on Dec. 10th to a leading social luminary. We dedicate this section to our own set of luminaries-young women in every corner of the globe whose on-the-ground efforts give us alternatives to violent conflict.
