Department of Peace

I had the honor of sitting next to Jason White at the Peace Conference this last weekend and
went to the Hill with the rest of the Mass activists to Lobby Congress on Monday Feb 5 for a Cabinet Level Sec of Peace under the new Dept of Peace which we believe Senator Kennedy will introduce into the Senate for us. It is our hope that the Peace Academy will be in Massachusetts and that the bill #808 will go through Congress and pass this year. Jason , along with Aaron and Julia lead the way as we talked to Mr. Stanton in Kennedy's office. The youth of America see through the years of involvement from the CIA in using our tax dollars to set up and train men who kill women and children without blinking an eye from the College of the America's in Georgia all over the globe. They see the enormous investment our country has in selling guns to anyone and everyone to keep the war business going. The cost is so great , we are in debt to China up to our ears and the insitutions we created fourty years ago are crumbling at our feet. Peace is much more profitable than war. Now, in our lifetime, we are going to prove that to be true. Our grandchildren will look back and ask, what was this thing called WAR? "Oh honey, that was a crazy time of about 6,000 years when people killed other people for money." It didn't work out because the no one was interested in it anymore. It just vanished from the planet and was heard from no more. Go back to sleep now, you have that paper to write about why you want to be SEC Of Peace. Thanks Jason for all the leadership you provided at a time when it counted.

rockin' the Hill

Don, the honor was mine. It was an honor to be there with you and the rest of our group from Massachusetts, taking the culture of peace directly into the heart of our democracy.

Walking the halls of the congressional office buildings and calling out "Peace!" down the vaulted marble corridors to the other Department of Peace state activist groups and hearing that word echo in those corridors is a memory I will cherish.

Certainly you noticed that we were heard, that our message penetrated. Whether they admit it or not, they are relieved we the people have finally come. Their time honored tools of war-fear are already obsolete. They just don't yet have a handle on alternative tools for dealing with conflict. In so many ways they are lost. We went to capitol hill and we said "we the people are here, we will light the way, we are not going away, we will return in ever greater numbers until you and us are once again one."

I feel certain that Senator Kennedy gets it.

Jason.
