Belief

I would have to say that believing things are going to get better is just as dangerous as believing they will get worse. It's all an escape from what is....... and from doing anything about it.

belief comes first

Belief comes before action.
If you believe.. it can happen, you can then set the course for action.
If you believe you are already defeated, you are a slave forever.
If you belive but do not take action, at least you beleive!
Your belief may just jettuson a friend in to a project that changes things.
If you do not believe, like so many people in american who do not believe we are in trouble of loosing the very freedom our forefathers faught for..... then you recreate the aweful in trade for the Full.
Belief is strong and can be a nasty landord, if it is a belief made in fear, hate, anger, control, judgement, ..etc.
The grand thing is...belief's can be changed!
Believe it!
LOL
Or not!
You are free to choose!

For sure. And I applaud you for taking concrete action to make a difference. I believe that you will not be one of those people who

Be well,

Things areas they are

Certainly it would seem some things are getting better on the other hand.......

That some people have always been in relatively comfortable circumstance and have intellectualized and theorized (and done good works too in all fairness as well) from the side lines is not new.

I have read reports from people who have spent their whole lives devoted to "helping" ,(applying band aid solutions)and in the end, have had to admitt it did not appear to make much difference.

empirical evidence

Chris, thank you for this thought. I feel that you are right only if action does not follow belief.

It is my observation that none of the wonderful transformations have happened in our world without people believing things are going to get better and acting upon those beliefs. Recent history is full of examples such as the rise of democracy, the abolition of slavery, women's right to vote, civil rights. All of these movements had their great luminary leaders, but they also had lots and lots of people who believed in the change for the better and acted upon those beliefs.

I think people fail to act upon what they believe because they are fearful. We can encourage people to release their fear and act out in love, in whatever scope and capacity they are called to, be it their family, their work, politics, faith, etc. We are compelled to observe and to seek solutions. It is what we species do. As such, there is nothing out of place in this world. Everything we see becomes a beacon and everything that happens becomes a door opening to a world of deepening love. Our purpose here is to allow that process to unfold through our own hands.

Peace.Jason.
