The Peace Gong

My eyes are filled with salty tears each day now
As I bear witness to the insensitive heartlessness
That has been perpetrated upon goodness.

Man truly has in my lifetime,,
Practically destroyed all we hold dear

Water shortages, weather gone hairwire
Entire species of animals and humans becoming almost extinct
War after bloody war being fought over land, control, power and greed
Priests who once did the sentencing, now being sentenced

What happened to the stallions that grazed with glee
In the big pasture with their friends without a care in the world?
We chained them and broke them and rode them into the ground and then ate them and made glue from their parts.

Where are the proud magnificent Redmen who took such great care?
Of our beloved homeland?
We fed them alcohol and gave them guns and broke our treaties and gave them a desert to live out their lives on.

What of the reluctant slave, of any color, creed or gender?
We wrenched people of color from their homes and families and treated them worst then we did the horses or the INDIAN.

One nation treating life as most sacred and another as if it were
something to waste in hate. We promote junk food, sugarwater, tobacco. Drugs guns and sex and promote them through the Internet and other media to our cherished children.

Who will take responsibility for the homeless children and broken lives?
A six year old boy who believed in Santa, the Easter Bunny and the tooth fairy with all his heart is now dodging real bullets around his home and sometimes being hit by them.
Where is the innocence of the small child now?

Who is left to stay with the sick and the old and the dying?
The hard working parents trying to educate their children and live a quality life for the most part have to give up their parents to nursing homes or worse.

Who has the energy to do what is right, rather than what is required?
Where is the truthful leadership that treated working for the people as a sacred trust?

What of the grandmother, worn out ,but dignified; old but holding amazing grace
who kisses her beloved loves one last time before releasing her last
breath which says, “I love you.”

Where is the hope and greatness of America?

A while ago in Bethlehem, they shot the bellringer in cold blood while doing his job.
Birthplace of the man of peace, sacred, defiled, bombed, in hatred and vengeance.
The time is at hand for those who desire peace to create it.

If the Knight of your dreams explodes and disappears,
Pick up his lance and become that which you admired.
For in your heart is the power to change
In your soul is the key to beauty and grace and love of all.
Let us be the active living soldier for peace and protect it as long as we live.

I sound this Peace gong in this place on Feb 22, 2007 at noon for peace in this town, in this state in this country and in this world. May the prayer I speak vibrate out in concentric circles and surround the earth with love and light and sound vibration. May this sound energize and revitalize all who lie at rest and all who are yet to be. Let peace then begin here and now with me and this sacred Peace gong that cries out for a long awaited
Department of Peace. May every heart, feel it’s gentle thunder as the thought of Peace
Echoes in the eardrum of humanity.

and so we*continue, lesser for that which we have been and are, yet greater in the knowing of what we could possibly be . . .
