Are Republicans Anarchists?

Cross posted at http://www.peaceisactive.com

I'm all for personal freedom and responsibility, but I'm not an anarchist.

I support the need for legitimate governments on the local, national, and global levels.

Republicans often call themselves libertarians, but I often wonder how far a jump it is from being a libertarian to being an anarchist.

Various groups have various reasons for not liking the idea of government. Governments have been run by a long list of bad kings, dictators, religious leaders, and politicians. Governments have made a lot of bad decisions that have caused great amounts of death and destruction.

On the other hand, governments continue to change. Instead of being run by secretive dictators and kings, governments around the world are now being run by people who are elected and accountable to the people being represented. This has been a great development, but we still have a long way to go in the effort of improving and maintaining legitimate governments.

There are many reasons why anarchists, libertarians, and many republicans still oppose the idea of having a government.

Some people just have no hope. They see the abuses of government and have no hope that government can be more transparent and more accountable in the future so they decide to reject the entire idea of government.

Some people reject government because they don't want to live according to the decisions being made by the government. A business executive who wants to dump toxic waste in the river doesn't want a group of citizens standing by the river demanding answers, cleanup or payment of a fine.

Some people reject government because they don't agree with the values being used to make decisions. Racist people don't want democratic decisions telling them that all children deserve equal opportunity. Religious fundamentlists don't like democratic decisions that are opposed to the rulings of their religious leaders. Market fundamentalists don't want democratic decisions getting in the way of their favored economic values.

Whatever the reason for opposing legitimate governments, the strategies are usually the same.

If they do not control the government, anarchists, libertrians, and republicans hoot and hollar about how bad the government is. It really is not too hard to get people riled up by talking about how bad government is.

If they take control of government, the idea is to destroy the government or change it to support the favorite value. The Bush Administration is an easy example of this. They rallied against "washington" throughout their campaign and then once they got into power, they took action to limit democracy while also trying to destroy the government by sending it into massive debt. They also put people in positions of power who support the interests of the market much more than the interests of the people being represented.

Iraq serves as another example. The Bush Administration wanted to install a new government in Iraq that would tie Iraq (and the entire Middle East) to the global market. They also wanted to install a "democracy" that could be bought and sold. When the Shia religious groups won the election, this was very bad news for the Bush administration. Now, there is a government in Iraq who wants to make all decisions according to their goals as a religious government.

I don't think that all Republicans are anarchists because I know some of them support a small, efficient, and legitimate government.

However, I think it is reasonable to say that the Bush Administration is close to being in support of anarchy. I think they would love to have everyone on their own in a war of all against all with money being the only factor determining who gets to eat, drink, or see a doctor.

This is why the Bush administration does not react to the disasters in Iraq or the Gulf Coast. They don't believe in government action or support. They want the market to determine what happens. They don't mind a little anarchy.

Identity theft/

I am telling every body now! I am the only person in the world that has my birth name. Behind identity theft, I am going to use my name as a trade mark so think twice about using my birth name as an identity. We All Have Been Victims of Something
I have a victim of identity theft through the internet, and I have been hacked many times. I now I am not the best speller and these people that are involved in these fraudulent accounts seem to work together on both sides of the law.
See these inhuman humans take advantage of other people’s disability and use it against them. Who do think is the mental problem here? the person that has the disability or the person that does not have any disability and taking advantage of the one that has one to make them self’s feel better or to only help keep the one’s with a disability down. This is what others have done to me.
If I have ever have heart or harm anybody by my reactions. I didn’t mean to or have said something to hurt somebody I didn’t mean it; “in less the person has harmed me in any way or hurt me” I know have a sharp tongue and words can hurt people.

Sincerely,
Kelly M. Caslar

Any Citizen can demand to appear in congress, invoke "privelege"

The following is an aol blog entry and my reply is at the bottom of that one. Check it out and try getting your Congressperson to bring you before Congress! Demand to invoke "Privelege" which means you assert the honor and intregrity of the nation, government is at risk and that you want immediate censure pending investigation. Take the press with you! I tried, but didnt have backup in this republican stronghold area with Thelma Drake, Republican as my Rep. This should work, especially in a Democrat area, maybe if someone in John Conyers district tries????

Another Enemy of the People?

I am posting the below with the permission of Professor Walter F. Murphy, emeritus of Princeton University. For those who do not know, Professor Murphy is easily the most distinguished scholar of public law in political science. His works on both constitutional theory and judicial behavior are classics in the field. Bluntly, legal scholarship that does not engage many themes in his book, briefly noted below, Constitutional Democracy, may be legal, but cannot be said to be scholarship. As interesting, for present purposes, readers of the book will discover that Murphy is hardly a conventional political or legal liberal. While he holds some opinions, most notably on welfare, similar to opinions held on the political left, he is a sharp critic of ROE V. WADE, and supported the Alito nomination. Apparently these credentials and others noted below are no longer sufficient to prevent one from becoming an enemy of the people.

"On 1 March 07, I was scheduled to fly on American Airlines to Newark, NJ, to attend an academic conference at Princeton University, designed to focus on my latest scholarly book, Constitutional Democracy, published by Johns Hopkins University Press this past Thanksgiving."

"When I tried to use the curb-side check in at the Sunport, I was denied a boarding pass because I was on the Terrorist Watch list. I was instructed to go inside and talk to a clerk. At this point, I should note that I am not only the McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence (emeritus) but also a retired Marine colonel. I fought in the Korean War as a young lieutenant, was wounded, and decorated for heroism. I remained a professional soldier for more than five years and then accepted a commission as a reserve office, serving for an additional 19 years."

"I presented my credentials from the Marine Corps to a very polite clerk for American Airlines. One of the two people to whom I talked asked a question and offered a frightening comment: "Have you been in any peace marches? We ban a lot of people from flying because of that." I explained that I had not so marched but had, in September, 2006, given a lecture at Princeton, televised and put on the Web, highly critical of George Bush for his many violations of the Constitution. "That'll do it," the man said. "

"After carefully examining my credentials, the clerk asked if he could take them to TSA officials. I agreed. He returned about ten minutes later and said I could have a boarding pass, but added: "I must warn you, they=re going to ransack your luggage." On my return flight, I had no problem with obtaining a boarding pass, but my luggage was "lost." Airlines do lose a lot of luggage and this "loss" could have been a mere coincidence. In light of previous events, however, I'm a tad skeptical."

"I confess to having been furious that any American citizen would be singled out for governmental harassment because he or she criticized any elected official, Democrat or Republican. That harassment is, in and of itself, a flagrant violation not only of the First Amendment but also of our entire scheme of constitutional government. This effort to punish a critic states my lecture's argument far more eloquently and forcefully than I ever could. Further, that an administration headed by two men who had "had other priorities" than to risk their own lives when their turn to fight for their country came up, should brand as a threat to the United States a person who did not run away but stood up and fought for his country and was wounded in battle, goes beyond the outrageous. Although less lethal, it is of the same evil ilk as punishing Ambassador Joseph Wilson for criticizing Bush's false claims by "outing" his wife, Valerie Plaime, thereby putting at risk her life as well as the lives of many people with whom she had had contact as an agent of the CIA. ..."

"I have a personal stake here, but so do all Americans who take their political system seriously. Thus I hope you and your colleagues will take some positive action to bring the Administration's conduct to the attention of a far larger, and more influential, audience than I could hope to reach. "

Great Messageboard - News With Views

This is my posting below this:

How could anyone think it is American to support harassment of fellow citizens for standing up for civil liberties and rights? Such people all should emigrate to Communist China instead of supporting a President who sold more than half our deficit to communist China! Thats right:so called "Conservatives"! In 2006 Bush sold 1.05 TRILLION of debt to China, more in one year alone, than 42 Presidents took 224 years to borrow from all foreign lenders combined! This isnt about our party versus your party, its about all americans getting together and not letting the country be sold out for a war that has only profitted the oil and arms/military contractors at great expense to the people. Remember folks, Afghanistan was about 911, not Iraq, and certainly not Iran. Its time to demand end to a war that has cost far more than 911 in American lives and trillions in dollars. Payback to terrorists? NAH, they are stronger now than before in Afghanistan, and in Iraq. So what is the point. As a fellow veteran i urge all americans to take a trip to their local Veterans Hospital and decide whether this war is America's, or Exxon, Halliburton and Blackwaters'profit machine. Have a great day my fellow Americans...In 2008, or hopefully sooner when Bush/cheney are out of office. Any citizen can march into their Representatives office or Senator and demand "privelege" to speak in Congress and demand Censure and investigation of the administration when the Constitution, or the integrity of the government is at stake. Ben Franklin inspired Tom Jefferson to put this in our Constitution, So do it folks! I tried, but my Rep is a republican, so it didnt work, Someone out there try with a Democrat who supports our Constitution! Demand to testify before congress that we want immediate censure of the administration NOW, pending investigation and hopefully impeachment, unless GW decides to fire all the people who misadvised him, admit he screwed up and fix this mess himself so the next President don't have to. He can save face by testifying against all them, PLEASE, Copy this post and send it on to others, until we make this happen. C'mon folks this will work.! Do it NOW, before Halliburton moves to Dubaii with their records while billions of missing war dollars are unnnaccounted for. They are literally preparing to walk away with the US Treasury if citizens dont stop them!!!
