Kesey's Speech revisited

War's tentacles are, unfortunately, almost everywhere.
Let me say first that I find this site refreshing, hopeful and informative but maybe I have grown cynical in my aging witness of the Amerikan war-profiteering culture. This insidious beast has become almost second nature to the majority of "average" Americans and I fear that that "70% against the war" figure is only so high because we are mired down and losing, not because 70% hate the war. If we were winning, that figure would be more like 30-40% anti-war and the flags would be proudly flying on a lot more front lawns and car radio antennas.
But I am not so cynical as to give up my activist fight against the war nor to ignore my pro-peace core beliefs of love and compassion.
We, as pro-peaceniks must continue to try and enlighten our neighbors and fellow citizens in every way we can, especially by example in our daily lives...and actively stay involved politically.
I remember being at a rally in Berserkeley in the late 60's (or was it '70-'71?) when Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters made an appearance...Kesey gave a speech in which he said something like this--"There's too much violence and negativity involved in protesting this war...If you want to stop the war--turn your backs on it and go do something good" --which is what he did up in Oregon. And what i did in Hawaii for the next 20 years or so and am doing now in Alaska.
But the war machine never went away and has only grown worse because we, as a nation, let it. It is very insidious, indeed.
Until we stop the military-industrial-corporate-CONGRESSIONAL complex, clean it out of all our lives, war's tentacles will keep reaching us. Keep Peace alive in your hearts. Never give up.

One must live deep within the deception of fear in order to take another's life, the sadness and depression of such a history is the single track which now continues to repeat itself over and over for the many who shall die by the hands of their own deeds, the choice of their own will . . . thus from the many will rise the few who see and know The HE(ART) of Peace . . .

Got kicked out of a pro-war blog today. The level of doublethink is high among these soldiers, their family and friends.

Depressing and sad.

it is hoped this place is more openminded.
the single track is never the song to sing.
