Ask Congress to fully fund UN peacekeeping

What is the price of peace?
The impacts of war and conflict spread far beyond the borders of any one nation. The financial and human tolls devastate communities and entire regions of the world. The United States, along with the international community have called on the UN to maintain peace, foster reconciliation, promote democracy, and build long-term stability in 18 missions around the world.

UN peacekeeping has successfully participated in or implemented 172 peaceful settlements since 1945 at just a fraction at what it would cost the United States. Sharing the burden and responsibility of maintaining peace has also kept American troops out of harm’s way, however, the President’s budget request this year shortchanges UN peacekeeping by $500 million.

What would you pay for a peaceful world?

The $500 million owed to the UN was already promised by the U.S. government; it is not newly-created cost. It is up to all of us to remind Congress to honor its commitments to UN peacekeepers.

Tell Congress to honor its commitments to UN peacekeeping for an effective means of sharing the burdens for international security and stability.
