I am

“I am”

I stand before thee
Completely exposed
I have no name
I have no country or race
I have no religion or occupation
I am neither
male nor female
rich nor poor
educated nor uneducated
I am neither
husband nor wife
son nor daughter
father nor mother
sister nor brother
I am simply
I am

~Deborah Abdulla

We tend to make judgments on people by the labels they have given themselves or in which society has given to them. It is sometimes hard not to do, and it is part of being human. But when we start to strip all the labels away, we are allowed to see that which is pure. If we would allow ourselves to do this more often, we would feel more at peace.
