The Great Lie and the Disconnected Outrage
While on this day 9/11/07 Gen. Petraeus gives his party line "report" to the U.S. Congress feeding the public the same old story--give us more time--the killing, the suffering goes on and will seemingly go on permanently because of the Bush/Cheney neo-con plan for empire in the oil-rich middle east. Feed the beast of the MIC.
With the sop of a supposed 3,000 troop draw-down in the next 6 mos. or so to keep the masses fooled, Bush is home from a trip Down Under where he told the Aussie P.M. "We're kickin' ass!". Our Cowboy Decider's diplomacy...what a sick, sick power-mad Preznut.
Congress has no collective courage or leadership with integrity, the anti-war movement is in disarray because of the frustration of trying to stop a war machine with no effective means of directing the outrage we feel.
Six years ago I was in tears because we had been attacked in NY and because I knew then we would go to war. I knew! And tried to express to my friends my concerns but everybody was so suddenly patriotic and in shock they didn't see it coming. It didn't take long, since it was already planned.
Yesterday I was in tears because a friend of mine told me he had lost his son-in-law recently in the Iraq war. I just broke down and cried in my friend's place of business from the sadness, the frustration, the outrage and he ended up consoling me, poor fellow. But he understood. The wasted lives, close to home.
No impeachment, no national strike, too few non-violent mass demonstrations (unless the planned Sept.15 march on D.C. is "successful")...very little spiritual awakening of the American Sheeple or responsible reporting by the MSM, no leading political candidates independent of corporate ties to the war machine---all this seems evident to me.
The conflict between western greed and imperialism-- and the violent Islamic ideologues will go on and on until there is some kind of non-violent solidarity in the people fed up with war as a solution to the problems of the world.
I pray we won't be crying six years from now.
The dark beast no longer slouches towards Bethlehem--it's alive and well in Iraq and Afghanistan, Darfur, in Palestine and Israel... And Washington, D.C.
So, please go to D.C. or your local non-violent gathering this week to show
Power to the People! and hopefully some Solidarity...It's time tome get off the pillow and into the streets, friends. We have gained strength within...now manifest that spirit, let you light shine!
Peace be with you, my friends...however you can find it!
