What does it mean to "govern by Catholic morals?" I've worked with Pax Christi - they're Catholic, even though I don't think the mainstream Catholics would care to admit that!

I find such continua in whatever faith tradition I care to study. Here's an easier one: Can you see the difference between the Islamist and the Sufi? Yet both are Muslim!

But the thing about your post that REALLY disturbs me, fellow grandma, is the blurring of the distinction between morals and ethics - between the dictates of my conscience with respect to my own behavior and the rule of law with respect to our behavior as a nation. The proper concern of the government is with the latter.

If it's too confusing or distressing to check out the issues as Papananook suggests, then talk to people whose opinion you respect and cast your vote accordingly.

Oh, Dear! Grandma!

You might want to check out the issues. Voting sweet and simple is just that. Simple. I mean no offense to your Faith, Grandma, I am a Grandfather, too, with the future of my li'l ones in mind and politics and Faith are a weird mix...it's Ok if you really take a REASONED look at the candidate and use your Faith as a rudder, but PLEASE be more aware of who you vote for and WHY! Peace be with you!
