You're Not Kidding!

You are actually serious? THAT man actually said THOSE words?!? Yes, indeed; shout it from the rooftops! Publish it in as many neocon forums as possible! Bravo!

"Blue in a Red State"

yes, Clinton maneuver

I agree, and this has worked in the past. Remember when Clinton proclaimed "the era of big government is over" during the run up to the 1996 election? He co-opted a conservative frame and used it to illustrate his adgenda. With respect to values, liberals and progressives should have a clear advantage once they stop being afraid to speak their hearts and minds, and start speaking to the underlying values that unite them. Relying on polls has proven ineffective and has resulted in flip-flopping as popular opinion changes.

A strategy? Reframing?

I think we should try using Bush's own statements of principle to promote the values he says he supports, when possible. Right Wing Conservatives often don't comprehend the very values they so frequently assert, and hence in their politics work against those very values. Such as: Democracy, Christianity, Freedom, etc.
