Media attention to peaceIt has been noted that the mainstream media does not cover peace and conflict resolution as much as war and conflict. What are the reasons for this and how can we get the media to place a higher priority on peace and conflict resolution?

propeace quoteA human being is part of a whole, called by us the Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. daily omrecent blog postsactive discussionssimilar postswho's onlineThere are currently 0 users and 8 guests online.

media
Reasons? Simple! One word: sensationalism.
Solution? Not so simple. One idea: Language has power. "War" and "conflict" can both be used either as nouns or verbs. "Peace," on the other hand, is only a lowly noun. We need to look at our rhetoric and get more strong verbs in there, and then maybe mainstream media will find it profitable to pay attention.
