"Highlights" from August 6th meeting, Lincoln, MA

August 6th's DOP campaign meeting in Lincoln was wonderfully hosted by Lorie Michaels, which gathered a wonderful group of people with fabulous energy!
Some in attendance were new to the DOP campaign and some present had attended previous meetings which was great to see. It's an example of the continued relationships and momentum taking place throughout this work for Peace!
Pat Simon, myself, and Jason White each shared information about the active work conducted in many areas of the campaign. The history, nation-wide activity and state-wide activity surrounding the U.S. Dept. of Peace campaign was outlined by Pat Simon, DOP campaign state coordinator.
I discussed the current district 7 (MA) activity and summarized the immediate
help needed in district 7 (MA).
Jason White informed people of the www.ProPeace.net website with its connection to current information on the DOP campaign and along with many others, shared his experiences; his desire for peace and how that desire got him involved with the DOP campaign. We were all reminded that through sharing our feelings and experiences with each other, a greater connection and energy was had among us all.

The objectives that we in district 7 (MA) need to focus on at present is: getting more of the campaign word out, actively receiving many more signatures of support from constituents, contacting local officials and introducing the legislation to them, and scheduling a meeting with
Congressman Edward J. Markey with constituents from district 7 before the end of this month.
I have been in touch with one of Congressman Edward J. Markey's aids, Debra Mauro
who has expressed that she will look into the Congressman's schedule, but 'can't make any promises' due to possible schedule restrictions.
With that, I ask all those in district 7 (MA) to please call
Congressman Edward J. Markey
at (781) 396-2900
and state your support for the U.S. Department of Peace bill, currently HR 1673.
Request that Congressman Markey support the bill. Ask others in district 7 (MA) to call too!
It will increase our chances of a meeting to be scheduled!
Help is greatly needed in furthering the efforts to get this bill passed and we all recognized we are in for the duration.
It only takes a few motivated for peace to continue to keep "the ball rolling".
Our August 6th meeting was no exception!

Peace to us all !
Andrea Loretz-Frey,
U.S. Dept. of Peace campaign coordinator, district 7(MA)
