THIS LETTER TO OUR CONGRESSPEOPLE

BY EMILY HORSWILL
HOW long do you intend to entrust further decisions to a leader who has led your nation into bankruptcy on a lie.

A man who sent our children to invade another nation on the lie. Who casually argues that he has the right (obviously the DESIRE) to kill, maim and torture AT LEAST 100,000 innocents, most of them children, thousands of them whom you represent. Who stomps and swaggers on our constitution.

How long will you continue to nod "yes, Sir" to a leader who approves of incarcerating human beings accused of no crime for unlimited periods of time without allowing them even a hearing, a leader who the right to hook a victim's penis to an eletric motor and smiles benignly into cameras while victims gyrate in agony day after day To make a public game of it day after day even until the victim dies. His quoted reason is to teach them "Shock and awe" or, look in your thesaurus and find "to cower" and "to crawl."

HOW LONG WILL YOU CONTINUE TO CONSOLIDATE such a leader's CONTROL of your country and yourself and the people you represent. Wake up! What I have just described is a dictator with a heavy boot. Unless you are blind, you must know, he does not intend to stop with us.

Gonads

Unfortunately, we cannot impeach our leadership on a website, or even on the whole worldwide web. We can't do it in the media or at a conference or even with two hundred million signatures on petitions. If my reading of the Constitution is correct, a Senator must find the gonads to write the articles of impeachment. And I hope (s)he remembers that even with the large bush uprooted, there are other shrubs effectively ruining the landscape. Even if the action fails, it will at least be a part of our history that we tried. I don't want to have to answer the question my grandchildren will ask 10 years from now: "Grammy, why didn't you grown-ups DO something?"

Thank you, Emily, for your testimony. Catching up with my reading since my return to cyberspace, and conversations with the grassroots at the UFPJ rally/demonstration, and the rarefied atmosphere of the NVC retreat have driven home to me that it is time for major action. That such action can and must be propeace action was reaffirmed this morning as I bore awe-struck witness to a revolutionary phenomenon among my favorite sector of urban wildlife. During my month-long absence, not one but TWO litters of feral kittens were born under my porch to sister mothers who are sharing the duties of feeding, grooming, and guarding this expanded brood. They have the courage and resourcefulness to try new strategies to survive and thrive in the hostile environment of my tiny green island in a sea of asphalt. We must try new strategies, too. If we wait for our leadership, I fear the chaos that might result. More will follow shortly in my Story, "Mobilize the Nation" at this website.
