NVC, DBT, Dennis Kucinich, and the Hopi Nation

When the same information comes from different sources, my spirit quickens and I become pregnant with the need to share the insight. At the recent NVC workshop in Litchfield, CT, participants were invited to share "rememberings" with the circle. These were short readings intended to bring us to a state of mindfulness; there were no introductory remarks or subsequent attempts to verbalize "the moral of the story." I have the honor to be the appointed anthologist for these rememberings, and I eagerly await the mailing list of participants from Chad so that I can send out a request for submissions and begin this important work.

One of these rememberings was copied and handed out to the circle just after it was offered. I had been profoundly moved by it, and I brought it back to my therapy group where mindfulness practice is used to open and close each session. Then last night, I was viewing a DVD from greater Boston of a presentation by Dennis Kucinich from March of this year, and he quoted the last line. I recognized it immediately and realized that the propeace community was waiting to hear it. Here it is.

MESSAGE FROM THE ELDERS OF THE HOPI NATION

We have been telling people that this is the Eleventh Hour.
Now you must go back and tell the people that this is THE hour.
And there are things to be considered.

Where are you living?
What are you doing?
What are your relationships?
Where is your water?
Know your garden.

IT IS TIME TO SPEAK YOUR TRUTH.
Create your community.
Be good to each other.
AND DO NOT LOOK OUTSIDE YOURSELF FOR THE LEADER.

This could be a great time!

There is a river flowing now very fast.
It is so great and swift that there are those that will be afraid.
They will try to hold onto the shore.
They will feel they are being torn apart and they will suffer greatly.

Know the river has its destination.
The elders say we must let go of the shore, and push off into the river,
Keep our eyes open and our head above water.
See who is in there with you and CELEBRATE.

At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally, least of all ourselves.
For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey come to a halt.

The time of the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves!
Banish the word "struggle" from your attitude and your vocabulary.
All that you do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.
WE ARE THE ONES WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR....
