This site launched on March 4, 2005.

Actually, propeace.net began on July 3, 2004 with an epiphany. The war in Iraq was in "quagmire" phase. The Democratic National Convention had just happened in Boston. No one mentioned the obscenity going on in Iraq and in the federal government. But anti-war sentiments were bubbling under the surface of mainstream consciousness. Websites were popping up exposing the horrors and lies.

One website in particular, antiwar.com, was especially good at finding news stories that were critical of just about everything. That site even cast skepticism on peacebuilding efforts on the rare occasion that one would make the news.

But I wanted to read more about peacebuilding efforts. I wanted to learn about and join with the people we were building the peaceful future. So I typed "www.propeace.com" into my web browser. That domain was for sale at the time for $650. "www.propeace.org" -- a Christian organization. Better but not quite what I was looking for. So I googled "propeace". I was astonished to find that the word was hardly even used here on the Internet!

I found that the domain propeace.net was available and I immediately registered it, thinking someone must do this. It may as well be me. Someone must create a website that challenges people to think beyond the intricate dance of war and anti-war. We must get people thinking outside that box, towards a new paradigm, towards a more enlightened world.

We must not be silent, but we must choose our words carefully. We must intend our thoughts, words and deeds towards the more enlightened world. We must align our passions not with hostility, avarice, anger, hatred and outrage, but with reconciliation, harmony, humility, boldness, bravery and love. The passions of war and anti-war can only destroy and divide. It is with the passions of the propeace community that we can heal and grow, and consciously evolve a more enlightened world.
